Art Workshops
The Barn Studio
The Barn Studio is a creative workshop space in the village of Laddingford in rural Kent. At the home of artist Anna German, the studio is housed in a converted cow shed in a secluded and peaceful spot in pretty gardens.
Anna is a practising illustrator and has spent the last 16 years working as an art teacher in secondary schools teaching GCSE and A level Art, Photography and Graphic design. The Barn Studio is her new venture where she hopes to help a wider range of ages engage with creativity on a regular basis.
Anna says, “Connecting with any kind of creative process is such a wonderful experience and something we should all try to make time for in our lives. My mission at the studio is articulated much more eloquently by the late Sir Ken Robinson, a hero in Art education”:
“Education is meant to be the process by which we help people, certainly, understand the world around them but also understand the world within them and it’s really only when we understand more about the world within us that we can engage fully with the world around us.”
“I’m an experienced teacher and will work with you as an individual to make sure you get the best out of your class whether you are looking to try something completely new or extend the knowledge and skills you already have. Come and say hello! Email the.barn.laddingford@gmail.com or call 07912 608849”.

Brush Pen Workshop
Testimonials
Anna is not only a talented artist but a gifted teacher. After explaining and demonstrating the techniques of using the brush pen, we were able to practise some ideas from the workshop booklet before moving on to our individual pieces. And this all in three hours! Each of us came away with work to be proud of, plus the tools (pens, paper etc) to use at home.
I really enjoyed your workshop. Your step by step guides and demonstrations really helped to show how to go about the drawing. I learned such a lot and it all gave such confidence.
A thoroughly enjoyable workshop run by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher. Everyone had a great time and achieved far more than we thought possible. Would highly recommend for anyone want to try a new art technique.
